Soprano Burcu Uyar was born in Sivas/Turkey in February 15, 1978. Burcu Uyar, who is one of the most successful young generation female opera singers of Turkey, won the first prize at the 3rd European Voice Competition in 2010.

Young soprano Burcu Uyar had also won the first prize at the European Opera Singing Competition DEBUT 2006, held in Mannheim, Germany on 7 October 2006, with her performances on arias from Massene's 'Manon' and Donizetti's 'Lucia', with a full score of the selection committee. Russian coloratura soprano Olga Peretyatko had won the second price, and South Korean baritone Tae-Joong Yang had won the third prize in the same competition.

Burcu Uyar, being regarded as one of the most successful younger generation opera singers, had also won the third prize at the 4th Leyla Gencer Voice Competition, held in August 2006 in Istanbul/Turkey.

After accepted in Opera Department of Hacettepe University State Conservatory in 1996, Burcu Uyar performed Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Olympia) at the Izmir State Opera, and Don Carlos (Voce dal Cielo) at the Ankara State Opera.

She performed the role of Olympia in Brescia, Cremona, Como and Pavia operas in Italy, after she has won the As. Li. Co. competition in 2002. Uyar performed Fazil Say's Metin Altiok Oratorio at the International Istanbul Music Festival in 2003, and has been accepted in Cnipal Opera Academy in 2004, then she participated in concerts with Schola Cantarum orchestra in Paris. She won the first prize in ALDECA contest.

She was introduced as one of the most valuable "coloratura soprano"s by Europe's classical music television channel "Mezzo".

Burcu Uyar has performed recitals in Avignon and Marseille operas, concerts, conducted by Daniel Tosi, participated in festivals with Marseille Opera Orchestra, and gave a recital in the opening of the Perpignan Festival; among these Burcu Uyar sang the works such as Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Donizetti's Maria Stuarda (Anna) opera, in the Marseille Opera, and Mozart's The Magic Flute (Queen of Night).

Coloratura soprano Burcu Uyar has recently been selected the Opera Singer of the year at the "Donizetti Classical Music Awards 2011", organized by the sponsorship of the Andante Classical Music Magazine; and she will perform at the 8th Bodrum Gumusluk Classical Music Festival, accompanied by conductor Ibrahim Yazici in August 6, 2011.
